First message is for cookie-2 responsible adults and 3 well-behaved kids are looking for a shack for saturday, march 1st. Please e-mail me. Keep up the postings- they are extremely enjoyable. Second is for everyone. Youth Hockey and family get all my time til mid Feb. The dozen or so times that I have been up there late in the year this trick has always worked. If in a group split up. Drill extra holes in the immediate area you are fishing. If you start at noon fish the spot for an hour or so. If you dont get any fish MOVE. You need to get at least a couple strays before dark. when you find that spot they seem to move in at dark. The extra holes are for your buddies to join in. Stay away from the crowd and have fun.

FOUND OUT FISHING RED LAKE TAKES ALOT OF RESEARCH AND COMMUNICATION WITH RESORT OWNERS AND BAIT SHOPS, THEY PUT YOU IN THE GAME. AND I REALLY APRECIATE THE HELP, I HAD A SUPER YEAR LAST YEAR AND I THINK TO MY KNOWLEGE THE BEST CAME FROM NOW ON OUT, THE RUSH OF GETTING CRAPPIES FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR IS THE SAME AS IT WAS 3 YEARS AGO , ONE WEEKEND ONE GUY 10 POUNDS OF CLEANED FISH 2 TIMES UP TO THE SAME HOLES,ALTOGETHER THEY WEIGH MORE THAN THE FISH I CAUGHT SINCE FIRST ICE TRH

I hate to say this but the wife and I cleaned up.We caught over 30 crappies ,we kept 30, then on the way in helped two guys that were stuck and they caught 1 so we gave them 15 ,they were from Sauck rapids. They were fishing less then 100 yards to the north of us. 3 wax worms on a small glow jig did real well, but it had to have atleast 3 on it. I also did well on angel eye jr white and green with minnows .The wife struggled with a blue glow jig which was hot before. COOKIE

Getting excited to come up this weekend. Are there any colors or style of jig they bite better on. Any certain depths. Are they suspending or hoding tighter to bottom. Is there a morning bite going on and what kind of minnows work best. Any info that anyone can suggest would be much appreciated. Thanks

coming to upper red this weekend starting friday. Is the bite mostly in the evening so we could run up to the lake of the woods for the day and till about three and still get in some quality time on url ? Also is there anywhere we could keep our days catch of walleye so we dont have to go all the way back to keillior with the walleye? This would save us at least an hour. thanks.

I don't know if there really is any hot spots. If you ask at the resort or bait shop they will usally tell you were people are catching fish. We went out about five miles where there was a group of houses and set up about 150 yards from them. Thats the best advice i can give you. I was set up about 50 feet from another guy he caught 17 and I caught 5. I you don't find them don't be afriad to move.

fishing report- 5 of us were up on saturday and are totals were 44 crapies and one snake about 5 pounds. We caught fish on and off all afternoon, but the best bite was after dark for a few of use. One guy caught 17 and i was only 50 feet from him and i only caught 5. Go figure.Small hooks and small minnows seemed to do the trick.

We were up to red fishing yesterday and had a good day. We caught 10 big slabs. Our smallest one was 13 inches and we had four over 14 inches long. We caught 8 nice walleyes one being 5 pounds, it was frustrating releasing such nice fish. My buddy also landed a 14 pound northern, that was 36 inches long on his ultra lite pole with 6lb test. It was crazy. We also caught two five pound northerns. Overall it was a good day. Most the crappies bit between 5:30 and 8:00. Thanks cookie for the advice we had alot of fun and we look at your fishing reports everyday.

Brian, If I were a guide what would I charge? I would feel bad if they didnt catch fish, I sure could use the cash after warren was here he ate all my venison but he sure did a nice job cooking it. I wish I could cook like him or maybe it was so good because we were in the middle of a frozen lake ,in a fish house ,with a wind chill of 20 below , watching Cool Hand Luke, having a cocktail. Will give full report tomorrow of how everyones done. PS.Warren I love you your brother COOKIE

Nice to see you made it home. Sorry you were 5 short of your limit. Maybe next time you can land your own fish, it takes practice. Moved small house by petes got one fish, guys in cabin got 32 20 yards from us. Went to check on couples in sleeper, they were pounding them, unreal they had a bucket full,I seen one that was 14 1/2 inches long. They were having a blast, doesnt make sense 12 fish one night a bucket full the next. Will be leaving house there untell I get skunked 3 times.

I feel that having the possability to catch 13 and 14 inch crappies is well worth the trip. This is a onece and a life time experiance. You could get skunked but if you search for them and are moble you should be able to catch themm . I will be letting all the fish I catch go. So there will be a few extra for other fishermen.

Cookie, I think you would be nutz if you move you house, just reading you fishing reports sounds like you have been doing really well. It just sounds like it is a hit and miss type of thing. I was just on another website and there was a guy on there that went out of Hudacs last night and fished from 4:30 to 7:00 and cought his 15 slabs. It sounds like the fish are starting to move back frome the west, and in time every spot will be a hot spot. And yours will just get hotter. Do you get a chance to fish the morning much, just out of curiosity i was just wondering if the morning was a better bite or the evening.

Last night was a slow bite, we fished from 5pm to 11pm and landed 12 croppies.I let a 11 inch crappie go and you would think I let a state record go the way my brother acted. I tkink I will let all crappies I catch go the rest of the time he is here. The wife landed a 11 # northern on here new zebco ultra lite.We were able to take pictures ,she played it for at least 5 min. what a blast. Will find out how some of the other fishermen did and let all know COOKIE PS. do I move my house today?

Hello Cookie,

Thanks for the fishing reports. My first day on this email. What a great way to communicate to the fisher people. My Brother, friend, and I are coming this wk-end. Wonder if you could give us advise on where to go out from and where your located. We fished last year early out of Rogers and late out of Hudecs. We will definatly be picking up our garbage as we strive to be sportsman and hate garbage in our hunting woods. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Brian/Bob/Jerry
