hey mike, my suggestion is to AVOID mille lacs and head for Winnie, the reports are are good from all around the lake and i know myself that the S.E side was very good to us about a week ago. mille lacs is dead,I was up to the lake three times recently and did no good. and we were mobile in fish traps and vexilars so i would steer clear.the bite is slow. maybe if you want to stick close to mille than try gull. it is also productive right now. thats all I know right now.

good luck, Jason

Heading up to McQuoid's on the 17,18,19 of this month. Any reports on the fishing from their houses, or anything on the south end? Does anyone know where they have their houses currently? What lure/time of day has been the best? I'll report on our fishing when I get back.

<snipped by webmaster-see reason below> 4 of us were up there friday night and saturday, we didn't bother staying saturday night because the heater wouldn't even keep the holes from freezing over. Whoever goes up there DON't pay up-front wait until you checkout. We caught 1 pike about 26". Stayed at Judds (Winnie) last year and that wasn't too bad. I could build nicer houses for under 200 bucks, these people must rake it in.

<We like to have fishing reports here, if you have a complaint, it should go to that resort, not here:>)

Hey, rented a fish house out of dickies the weekend of the 24th. A little nervous about some of the negative feedback about dickies (Mike). Anybody with a positive experience with dickies resort and the ice houses? The ice fishing also doesn't sound that great in this area, any suggestions with that??

Fished Mille Lacs Fri at 1;00 PM to Sunday 9:00 AM 4 guys, 3 bites, 2 small pout, and a 4 inch walleye. 5 miles out, of Dickies. Had a Vista cam down all day Sat., and early Sun AM. Only seen 1 decent perch the whole time. In 30 foot you could see all 8 lines, and you could tell if your minnow was still alive. If there were ANY fish out there it, would of been fun. Otherwise it sucked even with all that beer.

Millelacsbob, The first day we went out of Tiwn Pines but the ice conditions were not very good. THe cracks were openning up... there were a couple I didn't think we would be able to cross. Most of the time we just went out of the public access north of the casino. There are heaves but they look worse than they are. We drove a full size Chev Z71 truck with a 61/2 by 14 fish house on the back and had no problems. Just take your time. We fished about 6 miles out... "in the area" of 8 mile. Good luck let me know how you do. I would just go off the public access if I was everyone.

Jason, Thanks for the mud flat report. Which resort did you use to gain access to the flats. Is the road marked or is a guy on his own to find the route? How many miles were you out? Did you drive a ATV or a pickup? I could use some feedback for next weekend. Good Fishin!!!!!!

i waas up on mille lacs over this weekend and was out of dickies portside resort. when we got there our shack wouldn't get any warmer than about 40 degrees.we were there for 3 days and never had a bite. if anyone else plans on going fishing there don't waste your money and time and go someplace else.

Chad-regarding Eddy's, I just talked with a friend that had fished there for 2 days.... not a bight. If your staying for a couple of days, bring your portable fish house with and fish on the mud flats, eddy's is mostly rocks. I just came back from a 2 day trip to mille lacs and did well. We went to the middle of the lake and were the only ones on the hole entire flat. Between 3 guys we had 9 slot fish and only about 6 that we had to throw back. During the day we went about 300 yards off the flat 37' of water and caught 7 10-12" perch. We used fat heads and deam gems. If your going to catch fish, stay away from the south end, it a major waste of time!!!!!

Hey guys, Was up on the flats 8th-10th. Fish were slow to bite. It was right after that cold snap so I didn't expect much. The Ice was good but watch those cracks. Had about 18". The fish were about a foot off of the bottom. Use shiners.were in about 27'-30' of water. Jig a yellow or blue, glow with the shiner minnow. Don't go anywhere at sundown just stay and jig. Also pulled up a nice one at about 1am. let me know how you guys did

We went last sat. and we stayed all day. We got four bites and we caught one small perch. we went on the east side of the lake. I recomend not going during the day because it seems that the traffic slows down the bite.

Denny, just wondering what thier reputaion for service is. We got bit last year with really poor accomodations, and we are not high maintinance by any means. Sounds like a few other people got less than they expected from the notes on this board. The fish catching part is as much luck as anything, but is does help when the resort keeps the houses on fish. Just wondering if anyone had rented thier sleepers before and what they thought of them. thanks, matt

Matt, I've not heard much about the Warf, I guess the fishing has been alright in that area... if you stay away from the large groups of houses. If you go send a comment out and let us know how it is. In the past when I have fished in that area I stayed at Flag Ship, the houses were alright didn't catch a thing. Good Luck, I'm heading up on Sat. and staying until Sun night.

Fished New Years Eve and Day out of Hunters Point (East side) Houses are grouped in 25' of water. Very slow. Find 18' of water and no houses. Evening bite. Pulled in 1 20", 2 19" and 2 16" in about an hour. Ice is good for driving out on plowed roads. A little weird going out beyond plowed roads with a 40K truck and 10K of snowmobiles and equipment...your call. Bring your ATV or snowmobiles...snowshoes or ski's if you have to. <0})))))<

Brent, I've checked out twin pine houses also, the one I was in was a Sh-- H---!!! Recently I've been going to Garrison Sports , it is about 5 miles up the road just north of the Holiday gas Station in Garrison. He keeps his houses moving with the bit. He's a real straight shooter. Their houses are pretty decent. Give'em a call

Brent, Don't feel bad. Last year was our 1st and we rented a 4 person from somewhere in whaukon. It was cheap, but lousy. The furnace made a huge explosion every time it kicked in, the hut obviously hadn't been moved in weeks, and there was a community outhouse attached to one of the shacks, with a kitchen garbage can with a plastic sack in it that hadn't been dumped in a while!. Needless to say those people would hear every pleasantry imaginable from the shitter attached to thier hut. When the resort operator said "If you get in a pinch, theres a shitter attached to #8", he meant it. We made the trip to town a couple times. Anyway we did catch a few fish and played a lot of cards and had a good time . On the 17th and 18th we are going to fishermans wharf at isle, hopeing for better accomodations. Dont give up, we havent yet!!!
