Gearing up for our fall fishing trip. Hoping the weather will cool some more and the storms will stay in ND. Always a good time when we can get to Cass for a week.

I always have had good musky fishing later in the fall. Seems like the later the better.

Here's hoping both you guys have good fall trips.

Last week we hit my sis's campground lakes and just did ok: 2 cats, 8 gills, and an LMB. We did much better this summer 3 diff trips in 95+ degree weather--weird that the cool down slowed them down. But it was nice not to get burned this trip.

Tomorrow is the annual fishfry at Sven's dad's house.
The group just LOVES our Rockies deep-fried along with the other of our mixed-bag species.

I won't be up on Cass (@ Break on the Lake) until Wed. Oct. 5th. So I'll miss you by a couple weeks. Good luck though. This cool weather has really got me keyed up. The big fish will be moving with the falling water temps! Very Happy

Mark

Leaving Tuesday of next week for Cass. Anyone hear of any reports up there? I'm stunned at how little information there is available on-line about fishing reports in N. MN. Actually, I can't find ANY except what I see here. Even the Cass Lake resort websites don't have recent fishing reports.

Guessing the next one that gets out there will be Bob's, Grouch's, or mine! Hope I can post mine with some good photos too! Wink

Just got back today. 6 days out of 7 the weather was beautiful, the fish were biting and the beer was cold. The 7th day the weather was horrid, the fish weren't biting and the beer was still cold. Many, many perch, walleyes and some northerns. Another great vacation.

You're gonna need better fish stories than that to get invited to Sven's dad's house for Cass fishfry next year!

Hey guys. Back from my trip. Was interesting to say the least. I'll give more details later, but here are the high points.

1. VERY warm for october
2. VERY windy
3. Muskies were definitely off
4. Pike were definitely on (as always). Also caught a 20 inch LMB
5. Had a really bad thunderstorm on Friday. Lightning, some hail, 50-70 mph wind gust. Blew some of the pier system apart at Break on the Lake.
6. Lost a few muskies... but I managed to boat one 43 incher on the last day. My buddy caught a few big pike too. One was 33 inches.
7. Ruined my trailer tire driving home. Despite the grease... an old inside bearing failed and completely destroyed the wheel and the axle. Gotta drive back up to the Dells next weekend to pick it up and pay the damages. OUCH!

Still... another great trip. Beautiful fall foliage up there. And even though it was windy as all get out (some days with sustained 30 mph winds with gusts over 40), it was just too sunny and warm not to be enjoyed. Never had to wear any of the warm fall clothes I brought along. Was actually sweating a lot of the time. Thank goodness the beer was cold. Cool

Pics with more info later.

If you're in the Dells this weekend (15th) stop at the Ho Chunk Casino and take in the Fishing Lure and Tackle Show. I'll be there Friday & Saturday looking for additions to my collections.
