Hey All,

As promised here is the break down of yet another great trip to Cass Lake. The weather was well... Cass Lake weather...windy, calm, windy, and then calm. Rained all week except for one day but was not continuous so fishing was not impeded. Water temps were mid to upper 50's depending on the day and area. The first day we found 60 degree water in the north part of Cass but it dropped to mid 50's after that.

Walleyes were slow at the beginning but picked up as the week went on. We worked from 12 to 17 fow. Found walleyes hitting jig/shiner combos with a twister tail. Chartreuse with white twisters worked. When it was calm we dragged leeches...slowly...and picked up some.

We found fish in cass and pike. Since we have a small lund we were able to make it through the canal...just barely without hitting our heads. Smile Much better than last years slow week. We all came home with our limit of walleyes....nothing kept under 15 inches.... we released several fish over 20 inches including the big fish of the week that went 24.5". The quality of fish was excellent. Northern pike also started hitting more as the week went on...we lost several jigs to bite offs. Perch fishing was slow...

Good luck to all the CRAZIES next week! Send me a PM if you want to know any more.

I love Cass Lake!

Tim

Indy...Haven't fished any of those lakes in years. So I can't answer specifically but I would guess the water is a lot warmer in those smaller bodies of water.

Shiners.... $6.50 a doz. We never had problems getting them...the resort we stayed at always had them. But don't give up on leeches either...they worked very well for us. Leeches... $4.50 a doz. Night Crawlers $2.99 a doz.

Nevada---do you do most of your walleye fishing in the southern part of Cass ? I do most of mine on the north side, but looking to work Andrusia if the weather coops this year. Did you hear much about Andrusia while you were at the lake? Sorry for all the questions ..just trying to get my first couple of days strategy IndyWalleye

Indy....ask away. The best way to get info is by asking. To be honest we didn't hear any reports from anyone about fishing in Andrusia or Kitchie. We did hear people fishing turtle bar on cass but they said it was slow. We did fish the north end on the first day and it was slow.

Sorry...I wish I could give you more info on those lakes...but we heard nothing.

I am going to assume they have the dam wide open. I really hope the water level drops, otherwise I will not get into Pikes.

All six gates have been open since April 2nd.
The lake is going down now but slowly.
Whether you can get into Pikes depends on your boat and if we get significant rain.

Thanks Clark, I was hoping you would reply. Many years ago, the lake was high, and I was making it under the old bridge by a hair. By the time we left (2 weeks later) we were clearing by a good 12". What is the forecast for this week?

If you can believe the forecast - 20% chance on Thur.,Fri. and Sun.

Remember the new bridge is lower than the old one...............

If Ff would just let Kate guide him for a day he'd have no reason to go into Pike, er Perch, Bay to chase 'em!

Old habits are hard to break MM. Tom taught me how to fish Pikes and it has been good to me ever since. I have caught eyes on Cass, but I do much better on Pike. The Bridge will tell me what to do.
