|
|
I am from Northern Indiana, I want to set up a quick weekend get-a-away for my father and myself, maybe couple other guys?? Anyway I really don't want to have to spend 10-16hrs getting to a lake to catch some fish!!
So here is my question!
Are there any hot spots in LOWER Minnesota for Ice Fishing?? Seems like every time I do a search for places to rent ice fishing houses I get Lake of the Woods or Mille Lacs Lake things?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP |

rlehman,
That is a common problem even for those of us who live in the Minneapolis area. Those lakes are so big and have good numbers of fish so they draw the most attention. There are few places running the kind of operations you see up north in southern Minnesota. Mille Lacs is only 90 minutes or so north of the cities. That would probably be the southern most that I can think of. I fish in the Minneapolis area and do better than most people would think for being so close to the cities. There are a couple places that rent shacks on Lake Minnetonka but they would not be sleeper shacks.
I would be willing to take you guys out and show you a few spots if Minneapolis is close enough for you. Other wise you may also want to look into central Wisconsin.
Good luck |

| Has anyone tried the fairbult area? I was just down on Clear Lake in Iowa and they had 3-4 inches of ice cover and the walleyes and yellows were hammering everything! Hows the ice over in fairbult? |

| If you have the time. I'd consider driving up to Mille Lacs area. Not to fish Mille Lacs necessarily, but the many surrounding lakes. |

| There is an outfit renting sleepers on tonka now. I have seen adds for them on craigslist. That is always a good place to look for deals on guided trips and rentals including cabins etc. |
