Kevin and the guys still have the same Ol' 1/2 pound, swiss and mushroom burger with waffle fries! Meat is still great, beer is ice cold, even have my personal favorite, Bud Select.

I ate there tonight, when it finally started to rain. Hopefully it won't stop for two or three days.

New law in Cass County, no smoking in the restaurants and bars. No more haze inside.

I got to say, I have not had a burger like that since September.

Next,,, the fishing!!!

I love the no smoking law. When we met Thur. there is a no smoking law here. It was a pleasure to sit in a joint without having to smell that stink. Don't know if you heard, but the house voted 74 to 34 to outlaw smoking in the entire state of ILL. IF the Gov signs which he said he will, as of Jan 1,08 there will be no smoking inany in door place where people work.

ok don't mean to open a can of worms here but I don't like the no smoking band. Now I can see it in some places but bars and casinos and the such I can't. Believe it or not smokers have rights too. When I am at a casino or bar I alway ask when I sit down if the smoke will bother someone, just plain curitosy(sp) but then agian I see the other side of it. I have acturally been playing a slot and openily smoking with everyones premission around me and had someone sit down and start ragging on me for smoking. Like I tell them I was here first and no one else is complaining so go climb up a rope. Besides I have talked about this with others and they say they willl just go to Indiana to gamble so good ole Ron is once agian cooking the golden goose, he did the same thing when he uped the tax on the casinos to 75 percent.. Now let look at it this way I think it was channel 2 did a story on what you are breathing when you travel the highways and it was showned that your breathing in 3 times what you do around smokers and some of that is even worst than what you get from smokers... Then you have to think about the other side of the coin, the big brother thing. Remember years and years ago when they had something called probitation??? God that did alot of good and how much trouble did that cause.

Instead of outlawing smoking completely why not leave it up to the bar or casino.... I'm sure they can make it that if you want to work there you understand that there is smoking and will work there at your own risk, as for bars. and resturants, they use to have no smoking sections why not now.... or leave it up to them. I personally don't go to a couple of the local resutrants because of the no smoking policy, but agian thats just me, but I can assure you that you will see alot of places losing money because of it... hope i don't lose any friends over this but don't expect me to condone the goverment telling me that I can go out and get drunk and die from it but I can't smoke and die from it. Wonder how long it will take them to enact probitation agian once this goes thru?????

Got to disagree with you Carpy. Mayo Clinic just came out with a shocking study that shows the effects of second hand smoke. I too like a cheap cigar once in a while, but I do it outside where I hope I don't make other people (in the boat) offended by it. I will cut that down this year, because I don't do that much anymore. The one reason I don't visit the boats is the way I smell, taste, etc, when I get off the boat. I just don't go, that is my choice.

So yes, there are issues here, and unfortunately everyone will not be happy.

Well, with all the clouds, and wind we only got about a 1/4 inch of rain, most of it went through Grand Forks and west. Crying or Very sad

Yea, there are always two sides to every story. In a way, I feel sorry for the smokers, they are a dieing breed. (no pun intended) But smokers have to remember, their rights end where someone elses rights begin. A neutral ground, if you will. Breathing someone elses smoke is a real pain. So far 19 states have gone smokeless. I am sure it will spread. When we were in the bar Thursday, it was jamed. NO smoking did not hurt their business. As a matter of fact, a number of the local business's have reported an increase in business.

Like death and taxes your right it too will come to pass, but like I said its the big brother attiude that rubs me wrong. I think I am going to start a movement that will make these little ole ladies that take a bath in perfume to stop doing that. And what about the over sized ladies with the bubble butts from wearing stretch pants. Ok so I'm going a little over board but hey if special interest groups can force thier will on everyone why not maybe it will put a end to some of this stuff that is going on today. Like I said they can always go back to the idea of having a no smoking area it worked before....

It just ain't the same if I can't blacken mine (and other's) lungs while I am damaging my liver.

However, having seen my son start smoking, I am all in favor of making it totally illegal - that may be the only way I will force myself to quit. And while we're at it, every car ought to have one of those starters where you got to blow into it. And then don't forget that stereos ought to have a maximum volume for not infringing on my right to also hear the sounds of silence, and I do love Carpy's idea about perfume baths, and the DNR needs a mandate to get the lake-water smell out of lake-water, and.........I'm glad I"m not going to live forever!

From the sublime to the ridiculous ? - kinda like not being able to use adjectives to describe someone (ala "nappy headed") so if anyone refers to me as fat, then they gotta lose their job for insulting me, and......aw, I forgot I used to have opinions, but then I got married.
