I know we tried this before, and it did not work. But I think it has value. It would be nice if we could talk between boats. We tried the cheapie frs radios, and they worked like crap. This year, I will have my vhf radio on. If anybody else has one, we can talk and let guys know what is going on. The hand held VHF radios have really dropped in price, and could save a life.

Midland is selling one, they claim has an 18 mile range. I think the asking price is only $59 bucks. They used to be twice that for a hand held unit. A couple of years ago we were on a break in Pikes nailing eyes and jumbo perch. In the distance I saw gene crusing by. I called to him to have him come over and get in on the bonanza, but he could not hear me. Too bad for gene. Like I said I will have mine in the boat with me this year so who knows. Mr. Green

I think the resprt owners should issue those out to their "renters" so they can check on them and be able to provide emergency assistance if required....

I have two hand held marine radios, you can use one or both but if you get in trouble you're on your own (I don't walk on water unless it's frozen)
