I don't know what the new one will cost. Last year, I could get the premium for $99, at a store I buy all my "stuff" at. I chose not to buy it, I saw it, and did not see that much difference. With the new ones, the difference will be sufficient to change.

Gotch'a. In Cabela's and Bass Pro, they are both still selling 2006 chip for 99 bucks. But the new Premium 2007 is 149. On another site, that Jeff from Navionics listed the lakes with a 1' contour, and Cass was not there. So, now, there is no reason to upgrade/change. I'll stick with what I have for now. The Sportsmans show is this weekend at the Arlington Park track. I am working the booth for our fishing club. I will have to look around and see if there is anybody hawking these chips, so I can check them out. If anybody here is at the show, stop by and say hi. I'll be there Sat morn from 10 to 2, at the Arlington Anglers booth.

Just heard from Jeff, he said the Cass Lake upgrade with the 1' contour will not be out this year. Have to wait till next year.

Embarassed I made a mistake. Yes, mark it down. Here is the latest word from Navionics about their new chip. The new data will not be out this year.

Hi Ron,

Just to clarify, the new 07 product will NOT have Cass in 1 contours, this is the $149 product. The data is the same as 06 (now $99). The 1 contours will be available in next years release.

Just wanted to head off any confusion.

Yep, that's exactly what I was saying. Glad we got that straightened out. I will have to see the new chip before I buy it, right now I'm pretty happy with the one I have.

No big deal Colonel, you are supposed to say you have such vast knowledge of that lake that all you need is daylight, GPS and a compass and you can find any spot out there

I have to be honest, a little visual aid never hurt anyone. We all used to do it by lining up trees, beaches, water towers, etc.

The time and frustration the newer units save is certainly worth their price.

Your right there guys. I used to have so many land marks in mind, and also I used to follow lake contours to find my spots. Now with electronics, and my failing memory, I forgot most of the spots. Don't know what I would do if I had to fish without my gps. Some spots I know, but some mid lake spots, I would have trouble finding.

here is what I just came across, i'm sure it's a little biased due to the fact that it is a Lake Master site.

nope! about ready to fall asleep, I couldn't see that, but I do know that the debate could go either way, one lake is better with Nav.s the lake down the road is done better by LakeMaster. Just glad there is competition, imagine how expensive the chip would be if there was only one chip manufacturer, just like microsoft.

Man, 89.00 bucks, that's sounds like a good price. I really want to see one first before I commit to it. Going to the sportsman show tomorrow, hope fully someone will have them for sale and on display.
